metal stamping

For high-volume runs, Datum offers precision metal stamping & custom stamped metal parts. Our stamping services are ideal for volume production work, especially for designs finalised for production after initial prototyping using laser cutting. The Datum team work closely with you to produce industry leading bespoke metal components to your exact drawing requirements.

Cost Effective solutions

Our philosophy is that tooling costs should not inhibit a project’s success. To this end, we have collaborated with our partners to minimise setup and tooling costs, enabling long-term projects with our clients. Our precision stamped and formed parts undergo the same rigorous quality control as our laser-cut parts, with highly competitive tooling costs.

Custom Metal Stamping Part Manufacturing

In the metal stamping process, cold sheet metal is placed into a machine called a “stamping press” or “power press”. A metal die applies significant pressure to shape the material into the desired form.

Following the initial stamping process, the material may undergo additional treatments such as blanking, bending or embossing.
Stamping Processes

Punching: The stamping machine punches the shape from the surrounding material.
Blanking: Blanking involves cutting out the precise shape from a flat sheet metal material.
Embossing: Embossing is the process that creates raised and shallow features onto the material.
Bending: The metal is bent in one direction and repeated to create a specific shape.

Industries

Metal stamping provides an efficient and accurate fabrication process to deliver precise parts. Datum specialises in producing custom metal stamping manufacturing for a variety of industries, including:

  • Battery
  • Automotive
  • Marine
  • Electronics
  • Medical
  • Aerospace

Benefits of Datum Metal Stamping

  • High Production Speed – metal stamping can produce parts at a fast rate, making it highly efficient for large volume production runs.
  • Consistency and Precision – stamping provides high consistency and repeatability for large quantities of parts, maintaining tight tolerances and uniformity.
  • Material Utilisation – achieve cost effective material utilisation with the efficient die design, reducing waste.
  • Complex Forming Capabilities – Stamping can create complex forms and features like bends, embossing, and folding in a single operation.

Tooling Costs

As global market leaders in precision component manufacturing, we understand the competitive landscape. Consequently, we offer our customers highly competitive tooling costs for volume stamping.

METAL STAMPING HIGH VOLUMES

Metal stamping is a cold-forming process that uses dies and stamping presses to cut sheet metal into custom shapes. While laser cutting is cost-effective for R&D and low to medium volume projects, Datum leverages the expertise of our long-established stamping partners for large volumes.

Datum metal stamping service delivers high-quality results that are durable, versatile, and cost-effective. We work closely with you to ensure your specifications are met precisely and your design is recreated perfectly. Our manufacturing and compliance teams provide a bespoke solution and comprehensive support to meet all your project requirements.
