Ben Scott, Founder and Managing Director
 |
Following training at precision machinists DCE Holne (R&D) Ltd of Kingsbridge, Devon and university studies in systems engineering, Ben started Datum Alloys in 1993. As founder, he has overseen the rapid growth of the company, working closely with customers to ensure that Datum fulfils the vision of a quality metals and alloys distributor that genuinely meets customer needs at all levels. He travels worldwide and visits clients on a regular basis to ensure that the Datum team has the fullest possible understanding of customer business and always remains 100% responsive to the demands of each individual customer situation. Peter Jeffries, Chief Technical Officer

Peter joined Datum as CTO in 2008, having spent the previous 23 years in a leading precision parts manufacturing company. Within this business he undertook a wide variety of roles including Production Manager, Works Manager/Director, and PCM Divisional Director. Latterly as Technical Director, he was responsible for the company’s micro parts division and also for the management of major accounts. He has a wide range of engineering and management knowledge having previously been employed in multinational electronics and aerospace companies. In these roles he has undertaken major projects including the development of composite strictures and the project engineering of complex electronic assemblies. Peter’s role at Datum will be the development of new business sectors and also the further advancement of the already well established scientific approach to materials supply. Academically, Peter holds 3 post graduate degrees from Cranfield University, in Production Engineering and Project Management, Manufacturing Management and a PhD in Advanced Manufacturing Methods. Nancy Cheng, Global Operations Manager

Nancy spent 8 years as General Manager of a multinational company in the printer consumable supplies and mobile solutions industry in Taiwan and Singapore before she joined Datum Alloys in 2006. She has a strong track record in developing new businesses, products and territories and in leading sales and marketing teams. Ian John, General Manager

Having spent several years as production director and part owner of a successful food manufacturing company, Ian joined Datum Alloys in 2004. He now oversees the operations and general management in the U.K. Ian's academic qualifications lie in electrical engineering and the sciences at the graduate and postgraduate levels. Stephen Royle, Revenue Manager

Stephen joined Datum Alloys in 2007 and brought with him over 14 years of corporate sales management experience in the electro mechanical industry. He came to Datum Alloys from a background based in the Aerospace and Offshore markets and in PCB manufacture. Managing multi million accounts and facilitating large long term contracts across the globe, Stephen has an extensive knowledge of developing new markets and strategy for both small-and-medium enterprises and larger businesses. He is responsible for the revenue streams from the UK and Europe for all product lines and profit and loss. His academic qualifications lie in Electro mechanical engineering and marketing and business as well as being a fully qualified project manager. Peter Anniss, Marketing Etch & Nickel Products

Pete obtained an MSc by research, specialising in photo-etch quality stainless steel, from Cranfield University . His expertise also enables Datum to provide a unique product development resource for customers seeking new solutions in the application of stainless steel in the machining environment. |
Haydn Roberts, European Market Manager

Haydn joined Datum in March 2008 after 15 years working in the hi-tech specialist wire industry supplying into manufacturers of cables for applications such as aerospace, electronics, electrical, automotive ,medical etc. Haydn has a BA(Hons) in business and has worked in export sales both in the UK and France where he lived for several years. Craig Young, Bulk Materials Sales

Craig joined the team in 2002. He is responsible for the all production issues within our slitting operation. Having worked in slitting and metal industries for over 18 years, he has a wealth of experience in both machinery and materials, so if you have any production issues don't hesitate in giving him a call. Abi Bradley, Market Administrator

Abi joined Datum Alloys in 2005 after graduating from Bath University with a BA Honours degree in European Studies with German and ab initio Russian in 2003. She has lived in Germany, Austria and Russia, speaks fluent German, as well as French and Russian and is hoping to learn Spanish next. She is the main contact for German and French customers, but give her a call with any enquiries and she'll be happy to help! |
